The Ardex office in Queensland, with special mention to Brett Young, the Ardex North Queensland Sales Manager recently received a ‘Thank you’ letter from the Project Manager of the Mercer’s Lane Community Public Art Mosaic Project. Ardex donated the tile adhesives in addition to grout for the project, whilst Brett provided professional service and advice.
The 60 metre ‘crazy pave’ mosaic which pays tribute to the cane cutter and the sugar cane industry is a first for the small community and was aimed at boosting the communities’ morale. Like many other small North Queensland coastal communities, the area has been hard hit with recent cyclones, floods and industry downturn events which have seen the community suffer.
To date, over 600 community members have completed part of the mosaic, many returning to complete more. The project has given the community the opportunity to socialise, learn new skills and above all, to get ‘lost’ in an enjoyable activity.
